Local business Flowers & Bread is bringing their working artisanal bakery concept to NMBP. Owners Sarah Lagrotteria and Tricia Wheeler emphasize sourdough breads and their elevated versions of classic pastries. They currently operate one retail location in Clintonville.

At NMBP, Lagrotteria and Wheeler will offer a full service floral studio with uniquely romantic, flower-forward aesthetic. In addition, there will be workshops held including vase arrangements, garden planning, and wreath-making.

"The Flowers & Bread concept has an interactive component that Bridge Park market-goers are going to love," said Wolfe. "The ability to make art and enjoy artisanal bakery products will set Sarah and Tricia apart from any other vendor in the region. It will be the most instagramable spot in Columbus."

Flowers & Bread offers gift boxes with treats like jams, bread, honey, candles, pastries and plan to continue this tradition at their second location. At NMBP, they plan on placing a greater emphasis on pantry essentials such as coffee beans, custom jam line, teas, chocolates, local honey, etc., and a build-your-own-gift box experience. A few of their signature products planned include daily floral bouquets as well as the ability to create custom arrangements, a sourdough bread display, as well as a curated seasonal product line.

"We are thrilled to be part of the North Market family of merchants and to be putting down roots in Dublin," said Lagrotteria.

"We hope to become a part of the fabric of the community and to create beautiful flowers, gifts, food and experiences to share," added Wheeler.

Purveyors and Makers of Fine Handcrafted Cheese

Founded in 2011 by John and Anne Reese, Black Radish Creamery began their journey to cheese while living in the Hudson Valley of New York. After culinary school, John landed a job at a farmstead creamery and later took classes at the Vermont Institute of Artisanal Cheese (VIAC). With the goal of producing their very own handcrafted cheese, the couple returned to Ohio and began their business by selling fruit preserves "specially made for cheese" at the Granville Farmers Market. After a few years of planning their creamery and receiving a few Good Food Awards for their preserves, the pair opened their North Market cheese shop in 2016 and began crafting their very own cheese in 2017.

John and Anne were named Columbus Monthly Tastemakers 2017 thanks to their dedication to creating the best possible experiences for their guests. They raise the bar on what a cheese shop can be while being both a cheesemaker as well as a cheesemonger. Their level of expertise expands the whole spectrum when it comes to cheese by connecting consumers to farms.

The new NMBP location will be the first retail expansion for the company. Black Radish Creamery's primary focus is to highlight Ohio's cultured dairy products and carry a wide range of national and international favorites. Similar to their current shop, they will offer artisan crackers, Black Radish Creamery-made preserves, caviar, truffles, and more specialty items.

They plan to continue hosting special events including wine and beer pairings, parmigiano-reggiano wheel cracking, and cheese classes. John and Anne believe that buying cheese can and should be a fun and educational experience.

“We are sincerely delighted be a part of the North Market Bridge Park family," said Anne Reese. "Our Bridge Park location will highlight Ohio-made artisanal goods including our own handcrafted cheeses and fruit preserves. A cut-to-order style cheese counter with a seasonally curated selection of American and imported cheeses will be prominent. We're also adding an enhanced cheese-centric food menu."

"We truly look forward to being a part of the Dublin community and are excited to bring 'the best of all things cheese' to Bridge Park,” added John Reese.

"In just a few short years, Black Radish Creamery has established itself as a local and national leader in the production of cheese and fruit preserves," stated Wolfe. "It is exciting to watch their business develop and I am thrilled John and Anne will be with us for the next chapter in North Market's history."

Falafel Kitchen

Falafel-centric Middle Eastern cuisine

Owner: Katy Ailabouni

Columbus, Ohio

Instagram: @falafel.kitchen

Falafel Kitchen is a new concept from owner Katy Ailabouni, who is a member of the family behind local favorite Mazah Mediterranean Eatery. Falafel Kitchen at NMBP will boast an all-vegetarian, falafel-centric menu featuring pita pockets. The menu highlights include fresh, piping hot falafels, crunchy salads, homemade pickles, and delicious tahini sauce. Other made-from-scratch traditional favorites will be served, such as grape leaves, fresh spinach pies, salads, and zaatar bread.

"My goal has always been to open up a small, friendly kitchen and have everyone leave my doors smelling of falafels with full bellies and big smiles on their faces," said Ailabouni.

The new North Market location will help Ailabouni bring her dream into reality. Falafel Kitchen will be creating a family-oriented space that shares one of their most culturally unique and favorite food experiences found in Central Ohio.

"It is no secret I have been a huge fan of the Ailabouni family for a long time," said Wolfe. "The quality of the product at Mazah Mediterranean Eatery is truly best-in-class and we’re pleased to be a part of an expansion of their family business."

"It is such an honor to be part of the North Market Bridge Park experience. I’ve been in the restaurant business since before I can remember," added Ailabouni. "My mom is the owner and chef of Mazah Mediterranean Eatery, and my grandparents operated Sinbad's long ago, during a time when words like hummus and falafel were still not part of the mainstream vocabulary. Times have changed, and the Columbus food scene has become one of the greatest platforms for sharing our family’s traditions and cultures."

Using their own Oaxacan-style recipes, Lisa and Vicente Gutierrez started Dos Hermanos Taco Truck in 2012 and grew rapidly from there. After constantly battling unpredictable weather and the seasonality of a food truck, they decided to join North Market full time in 2015. This move allowed Dos Hermanos to be open year-round and sustain more regular work for their staff.

"It would be difficult to find any couple that has worked harder to build a family business from the ground up than Lisa and Vicente," said Wolfe. "Dos Hermanos is a Columbus favorite because people can taste a fresh and authentic food experience in every bite. North Market Bridge Park will provide the opportunity for this North Market favorite to serve their Mexican street food to an even wider audience."

Dos Hermanos currently operates two mobile food trucks, a taco cart, drop off catering services, a concession stand in the Greater Columbus Convention Center, and recently moved into their new commissary kitchen, Food Fort 2.0. Their new NMBP location will be a way to continue their dream of creating memorable food and creating jobs for the community.

"We believe that food brings people and communities together," said Lisa Gutierrez. "It is an honor to be able to share our authentic family recipes with the visitors of North Market Bridge Park. Our hope is that everyone will gather with us around the table."

Since early on, the Economic Community Development Institute (ECDI) has supported the growth of Dos Hermanos as the owners learned about operating a business and utilized many of the amenities and services ECDI has to offer. Lisa now serves on the Mobile Food Vending Board for the City of Columbus and has a passion for serving others through public speaking and mentoring.
